Field Worker Guide
This guide covers the daily workflow for field technicians using the Plantrunner mobile app.
Your daily workflow
1. Check your route
When you open the app, your dashboard shows today's route (if one is scheduled). You'll see:
- The route name
- List of customer locations in order
- Estimated total time (driving + service)
2. Navigate to a location
Tap a location in your route to see its address. Use the map view or open directions in your device's map app.
3. Check in
When you arrive at a customer location:
- Tap Check In
- The current time is recorded
- Your visit status changes to In progress
4. Perform service
While checked in, you can:
- Log tasks -- Check off completed tasks from the predefined list
- Add notes -- Record observations, issues, or customer requests
- Take photos -- Capture before/after shots or document issues
- Log plant health -- Update the health status of plants at this location (if plant inventory is enabled)
5. Check out
When you've finished:
- Tap Check Out
- The current time is recorded
- Your visit is marked as Completed
- The duration is calculated automatically
6. Move to next location
Continue to the next waypoint on your route and repeat the process.
Logging timesheets
If your company uses timesheets (Team plan or higher):
- Navigate to Timesheets
- Tap Add Timesheet
- Enter the date, hours worked, and any required details
- Submit for admin review
Tips
- Check in immediately when you arrive, even before starting work. This gives the most accurate time tracking
- Use notes liberally -- They help your office team understand what's happening in the field
- Take photos of issues -- Visual evidence is more useful than written descriptions for plant problems
- Log plant health consistently -- Even "Healthy" logs are valuable for tracking patterns
