Plant Types

Plant types are a reference catalog of common indoor plants and commercial interior cultivars. When adding or editing a plant, selecting a plant type auto-fills the name and species fields, ensuring consistency across your inventory.

The catalog includes more than 250 common interior plant references and remains available across all customer locations.

How plant types work​

When you create or edit a plant and select a plant type:

  • The plant name field is pre-filled with the type's common name
  • The species field is pre-filled with the scientific name
  • You can still edit both fields if needed for a specific plant

Using plant types​

When adding a plant​

  1. In the Add Plant form, search the Plant type dropdown
  2. Select the matching type
  3. The name and species auto-fill
  4. Adjust as needed and complete the remaining fields

When editing a plant​

  1. Open the plant
  2. Click Edit
  3. Search the Plant type dropdown
  4. Select the matching type or choose custom species
  5. Save the plant

Changing the plant type updates the plant name and species fields, which you can still edit before saving.

Without a plant type​

Plant types are optional. Choose Custom species to manually enter the name and species when the catalog does not contain the plant you need.

Searching the catalog​

Search by common name or scientific name. Results are grouped by plant category, such as large floor plants, tabletop plants, trailing plants, ferns, palms, and succulents.

Benefits​

  • Speed -- Searching and selecting is faster than typing full names
  • Accuracy -- Scientific names are filled in correctly
